Greg Schatz
Greg went on his first backpacking trip in wild country when he was fourteen. At nineteen he learned to pack stock and quickly developed an aversion to hiking. He has spent his life packing horses thousands of miles in the Bob Marshall Wilderness and surrounding wild country. It is said that a horseman is lucky to have one really good horse in his life and Greg has been fortunate to have several.
Emmy Sauer
Emmy grew horseback up in rural, central Texas. This is where her love of the outdoors began. She graduated with a degree in environmental science and then began her northern trek to Wyoming to work as a wrangler in Cody. Here she learned the wonder and importance of equine friends in the backcountry. Emmy then moved up to Montana to work in beautiful Glacier National Park as an outdoor educator for Glacier Institute. This deepened her love for the outdoors and the relationship we get to have with it. Emmy spends her free time hiking, riding and backpacking through the Crown of the Continent. Her dog, Sundance, loves to accompany her on her national forest treks. Emmy is excited to experience this incredible wilderness with her horse Moose this summer. Above all, Emmy cherishes time spent outside and hopes to share this sentiment with others.
Krissy Gillispie
Krissy Gillispie spends a lot of time volunteering for the Back Country Horsemen of Montana and The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation packing her mules for various projects. Her passion for the mountains, rivers and roadless areas keeps her busy in the summer. She lives in Helena, MT where she owns and operates a private practice for mental health. When snow flies you will find her in the gym or spending time with her dogs, Ariat, Decker and Ripp. She finds the relationship with nature an integral part of wellness. She often teaches, guides and supports her clients to connect with nature in whatever capacity that speaks to them. She believes in the importance of protecting these wild places for the enjoyment and health of our future generations.
Ally Pike
Ally grew up in central Texas, where she spent most of her time out in the woods, often on horseback going way too fast. She studied wildlife & land management and then promptly moved north to be a trail worker. She’s worked with the Montana Conservation Corps and the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation crew leading and packing. In the winter she’s an artist, ski instructor, and carpenter. In the summer she spends her days riding, camping, cooking, fishing, or taking her dog Luna for an adventure.
