DESCRIPTION:20th Annual Pony Poker Ride June 15\, 2024\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPony 20th ANNUAL Horseback Poker Ride\nSaturday June 15\, 2024\, 8:30 am – 1:30 pm\nThe ride is held at the beautiful Sitz Angus Ranch in Pony\, Montana.\nThis year\, 2024\, we’ll be inviting you to again saddle up the horses and put on your poker face for the Pony 20th ANNUAL Horseback Poker Ride.\nThe times listed below are subject to change so check back before the event. \n\nRegistration in person: 8:30 am-10 am\nFirst rider out: 9 am\nLast rider out: 10:30 am\nLast rider in: 1:30 pm\nLast poker hand accepted at 1:30 pm\nLunch is served 12-1:30 pm at Sitz Ranch\nLunch following the ride included for paying poker participants\nLunch for non-participants\, $10\nPrizes for 1st\, 2nd and 3rd Poker hands will be awarded after the last rider gets back\n\nThis is a Pony Homecoming Club Fund Raiser. \nSitz Angus Ranch is located about 45 minutes SE of Butte and 55 minutes SW of Bozeman. Take Hwy 287 to Harrison\, turn onto Norwegian Creek Rd. After about 5 miles take a left onto Sitz Road (directions). Parking at the ranch. \nThe Poker Ride is sponsored by the Pony Homecoming Club. Registration for the Poker Ride is 8:30-10 am at Sitz Angus Ranch. \nRegistered riders (no horses at registration table please) can start riding between 9 am and 10:30 am for the approximately 8-10 mile trail and gravel/dirt/grass road ride. NO LATE ENTRIES please — last rider out at 10:30 am. \nAll riders will be required to sign a waiver at the event. \n$30 buy-in gets you one hand\, ride and lunch. $10 per extra hand. \nPlease let us know if you or someone you know might be interested in helping out during the event! Feel free to send us an email. The draft horse show provides a family-friendly event that offers education\, cultural history\, and fun for all ages with a small-town atmosphere. Feel firsthand the immense horsepower of these gentle giants when they pass in front of the grandstand. The Big Sky Draft Horse Expo offers the beauty\, grandeur\, and sheer power of today’s draft horses. While at the Expo\, we encourage you to see the sites in Deer Lodge. \nBUY TICKETS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMONTANA’S BEST DRAFT HORSE SHOW – DEER LODGE MONTANA\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Expo’s goal is to educate the general public about draft horses\, mules\, and related equipment while entertaining the whole family. Several different breeds of magnificent draft horses and mules will be competing in classes during the three-day show. However\, this show is not just about the competitions\, it is about teamwork. Many of the participants are families who have owned and shown these draft animals for several generations. These families know what hard work is. Grandparents\, parents\, kids\, and grandkids are up early getting their horses and mules ready for the show or work. This is a year-round endeavor. \nThis exciting weekend boasts Show Hitch Classes including Cart Class\, Unicorn\, Unicorn\, Four\, Six Horse Confirmation Classes\, and several other classes open to the Show Hitches. There are also classes for those competitors who don’t own Show Hitches. This group is called the Open Class and these folks compete in working horse and driver classes; classes that feature skills such as log skidding\, precision\, and obstacle driving. There are even some classes that are based on SPEED! Also included in the show are classes for youngsters who are just getting started in this almost forgotten skill. \nExpo encourages our audiences to get involved. On Saturday Draft Horse 101 will be presented in front of the Grandstand. This is an opportunity to learn about draft horses\, harnessing\, and some of the equipment used in driving horses. There will be lots of time for questions. During the show\, there will be a time for kids to come down from the Grandstand and participate in a boot race or in stick horse barrel racing. Everyone is encouraged to visit the barns to meet the horses and their people. Bathing a one-ton animal is not nearly as easy as giving a bath to your dog. Harnesses are cleaned\, manes and tails are braided\, wagons and carts polished up. There is always something going on. This is where the public really gets an inside view of the devotion\, hard work\, and love these families have for their animals. It is absolutely wonderful to watch the youngest and the oldest working together\, no electronics\, no “screens” just people and animals!!! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBIG SKY DRAFT HORSE EXPO SCHEDULE\n\nThe 2023 Expo went of without a hitch!
