Directions: 1st Ave N to Highway 191 N junction, Fairgrounds Rd. Stay on US-191 for 1.6 miles and then turn right onto Lime Kiln Rd (the next right after last fairgrounds gate, at Central Montana Propane). Arrive at Limekiln Trailhead 5.6 miles down the road. (follow BLM signs). Follow road to the trail head. Judith Mountain Lodge is located here.
BLM lands, good parking at trailhead. No potable water. Creek water for horses near trail head. No designated campsites. Vault toilet.
Trail: A well maintained loop trail. Approx. 3 hours round trip. East side: To begin can use bridges and trails or use road to the trail marker in the trees, to actual trail, some easy climbing on trail. Can go up to Lewistown Overlook is approximately 4.5 miles out and back. West side is well graded switch back climbs and easy trails The ride to Burnett Peak/New Year Peak is approximately 7 miles out and back. Popular with bikers and hikers so some cautious awareness is necessary.
